Economy class on Air France seemed exceptionally cramped. I apparently stood up to stretch every half-hour even when half-asleep. On the bright side, it meant I managed to watch the sun rise in very slow motion all across Europe. Somewhere over the Black Sea a faint spectrum started appearing, from red near the horizon to blue at the top. Near the Bulgaria coast the spectrum has become slightly more obvious. Over eastern Germany much of the light of the sun has come through and the rainbow has given way to a white-blue spectrum. Near the French border the spectrum grows brighter. Finally the rising sun itself is visible from the terminal building at Charles-de-Gaulle airport.
' ... From wrong to wrong the exasperated spirit Proceeds, unless restored by that refining fire Where you must move in measure, like a dancer.' The day was breaking. In the disfigured street He left me, with a kind of valediction, And faded on the blowing of the horn.

Glad you've landed safely in France! Lovely sunrise.
It's all over the news here now ... kind of scary.
